Verdi is a small community right on the California / Nevada border where the Truckee River meanders at a lazy pace.
At an elevation of 4,500 feet, there is not nearly as much snow in Verdi, yet you still have that "Sierra" feeling with pine trees, rolling topography,and snow-capped mountain tops. Take the "Gold Ranch" exit to visit Verdi.
Floriston is located further west of Verdi off the I-80 corridor, and is slightly highter in elevation. Floriston is mostly older historic homes on smaller parcels and it has a nice sense of community.
